Guy I know offered to trade my 18.5 wsm for his green egg been used 3 or 4 times said he can't figure it out and doesn't want it what would you do 1000 dollar green egg or 300 dollar wsm ... Friends say trade and buy a 22.5 after I sell it lol

I'll honestly say despite the huge ceramic shell I don't care for the size , layout or design and knowing the owner had a wsm and thought he was up grading and now wants another wsm scares me from wanting one

Go for it, I have friends with them and they swear by them, do some darn good smoking with them also. You have to learn it like any other tool, your friend does not have the patience for that.

Seriously? If someone is willing to take a $700 loss , than definitely go for it! Even if you don't like it you could flip it, buy a big boy WSM and make a profit to spend on other stuff.

Colby, most definitely GO FOR IT!!!! I bought a slightly used one last summer it had been used 3 times. My Dad's neighbor pd $850 for a med green egg,I got it for $300. Said it wouldn't produce heat got the unit home and the bottom grate that you dump the lump charcoal on was missing. He was trying to build the fire on the bottom where the ashes fall. Found a grate around the house that worked. Fired it up 600* and climbing they work like a dream. Produces great BBQ, pizza, bread, rolls, you name it the egg will produce it. The biggest draw back is that you have to take out the cooking grate to add charcoal. But one load will burn for hour upon hours. Plus in windy severe weather it's the best smoker on my deck. Because the wind does not bother the thick ceramics. If I was closer I would trade him my Weber and then purchase a new Weber or find a newer used one. Best of both worlds dude. Hope that you get it.

Trade it. You can always look for another wsm. But hopefully you do t leave is now that you have the green egg :(

Even if you flip it and make money, it's a win win! As everyone else says, I'll pull the trigger if you can't! ;) Merry Christmas

As the owner of a large BGE I say do it. An absolute no-brainer in every respect, assuming the egg is in normal working condition.

Be sure to look it over thoroughly to make sure there are no hairline cracks on either the exterior or interior of the outer shell. Also carefully remove the inner ceramic components to make sure they're not in pieces.

Not a big deal if the top fire ring that the grill rests on is in pieces, yet still supports the grill. Rather inexpensive to replace (relatively speaking) and for the most part the grill can function normally. Cracked firebox may not be a deal-breaker, assuming everything else is pristine. Broken firebox is pricey and not covered by "the mothership" (as "Eggheads" call BGE headquarters). Any cracks (hairline or otherwise) in either the dome or body blows the deal completely, unless he calls HQ for a replacement - BGE offers a lifetime warranty on the ceramics to the original owner ONLY. Keep that in mind.

I would make the trade! If you don't like it, turn around and sell it! You will make more than enough to buy another 2 18.5s!
