With a 22.5" Weber kettle, OTG, I find that the handle on the lid gets to hot to use it. I have to find a glove to insulate my hand from the heat.
I have not yet used more than one Weber chimney of Kingsford briquettes. I bank my coals to one side trying to make a 3-heat fire. I cook with the lid on, but when I need to check on the coals or the food, the handle is too hot to touch. I almost always have the bottom air vents fully open and the wheel on the top about half closed.
Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? Should the (plastic?) handle be insulating better? If you have encountered this problem and fixed it, what did you do?
FWIW, I never experience this problem on my SJS.
