Tomorrow is the shortest day of the year

Tomorrow is also the "great conjunction" between Jupiter and Saturn. Look west after sunset - they will be appearing extremely close together. Last time they appeared this close was nearly 800 years ago. Next time won't be until 2080 - long after we're all gone.

Funny thing about seasonal daylight, they actually have more of the stuff up north in the summertime than we do, and folks along the Gulf coast have less summertime sun than we do. Weird.

And during the winter months it's the opposite.

One of the things I love about being in northern Wisconsin during the summer is how twilight seems to last so much longer than it does at home.

I really never thought about this till the subject was brought up. I used to live in the Boston area left in 1996 moved outside of Atlanta, GA. I hated the winter time up there especially how depressing it was because of how early it got dark.

So today in Boston sunrise around 7:13 sunset around 4:21 so basically 9.08 hours of daylight. In ATL sunrise 7:42 sunset 5:39 so 9:57 hours of daylight.

Just for curiosity put in June 21st 2021 on this calculator I found. Boston sunrise around 5:07 sunset around 8:24 so 15:17 hours of daylight. Atlanta sunrise 6:27 with sunset at 8:51 so around 14:23 hours of daylight.
