TKC 22" Kettle Conversion Kit.

Interesting concept Tony. Kind of like the idea but with a gas assist performer I wonder how it would work. Also for searing and the like, a 2 zone fire or the Vortex (ARD) already does a great job, and for low and slow, many already have WSM's. True that it would add space, but a used WSM22 can be had for less than this thing. Though it is a cool concept and I do love my toy's. Of course, there is SWMBO's current moratorium to consider. Would love to see someone here get one and report back.

I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out how the flipping thing works.

Looks like you have to remove the ash-sweep system, that's about as much as I get.

I've done a bit of Googling, & can't find anything anywhere with any reports. So it must be a very recent "invention"....... I think.

Exactly George! I often wonder why we, generally, seem to feel the need to construct some "gadget" to make one thing into something it's not. The kettle was conceived, designed and built to do what it does, some tinkering in methods has evolved it into a "lesser" smoker. That's why the WSM came to be, it's designed to be a smoker and a"lesser" grill.
I looked for quite some time at the new contraption and I just don't see the possibility of it really being much improvement.
I have spent years in sales and understand the design of the pitch, they guys who make them feel they have come up with a great idea, maybe they have but, I don't see the need. Good luck TKC!

There's not many smoker conversion gadgets that allow use of the entire 22" grate surface, but even that benefit kind of pales in comparison with just buying a second kettle for a hundred bucks.
