They're not "refs", they're officials!

We used to call the umps “blue”, come on blue *** was that.
When I’m watching football I’m all for ref, officials is just a little too uh what’s that word I’m looking for?? Official!!

My other hobby was drones, and in the early days, people complained "they're not drones, they're UAS's" (Unmanned Aircraft Systems), which is true. It's what FAA calls them. But drones stuck and everybody says drones, because it's one syllable.
Mark... was that UAS or sUAS ?

Baseball exposure. Umps are referred to as 'Blue'. Even now, with my kid playing HS and travel ball, they still give the ump a high five or fist bump after the game and say "Thanks, Blue". Though, at their older age, a lot of kids - especially catchers - introduce themselves at the start of the game and then refer to the umpire by their name thereafter.

And because "drone" is a spot-on example of onomatopoeia. ;)

Both. Nobody says sUAS though, not in the forums anyway. They just say drone, or they say Phantom or Mavic or whatever drone they have. Or they might say UAS but that's rare. I think it's assumed that drone or UAS is a hobby drone. And these days they have even smaller lighter drones called micro drones or mini drones.

Mark...

I am somewhat familiar with aircraft. I have my private pilot license and have had since 1985. - Single Engine, Fixed Wing, Land, Instrument rating.

Flew my family over most of this half of the country, back country also. Normally flew either a Piper Turbo Arrow IV or a Cessna TR-182.
Both are 4 seat fixed wing aircraft with just under 200 mph cruise speeds and considered high performance aircraft, ie retractable gear, controllable pitch prop, turbocharged, intercooled. The Cessna TR-182 had a 541 cu inch engine.

-->> For those that have read this far, all I was asking Mark was if the UASs were either sUAS (under 50 pounds weight) or UAS (over 50 pounds weight) !
