ThermoWorks WAND infrared forehead thermometer, pre-order $89

I love Thermoworks. For an institution, business, factory, office or something like that where you will need good testing many times a day for many days/weeks, it would be a good deal. But as an average joe, it would be a little out there IMO.

I get this sentiment, there was similar discussion about this a few months back having to do with Thermapen. All I can say is I gave up a long time ago trying to figure out what "an average Joe" would or would not buy. A lot of them here in CA have expensive off-road toys parked in the garage and big pickups parked in the driveway. I see lots of 85" flat panel TVs rolling out of Costco. Lots of folks cooking with All-Clad cookware. Lots of folks buying Weber grills when cheaper ones are lined up outside Lowe's. To each his own, I guess.

Very true Chris. I can only speak for myself. And my post was totally my opinion. I tend to have different tastes and values than people living on the two coasts. But, I think everyone can agree with me that the 93 cents a gallon gas we have here in my area right now is a good deal for anyone.

Oil prices have dropped so low, Exxon-Mobil is going to have to start laying off Congressmen.....

My g/f & I take our healthcare rather seriously, we have questioned the accuracy of the medical thermometers that we have. I jumped on this when it came in this morning, hopefully I got in early enough (and padded the order with a few fridge & freezer monitors.)

Wow, makes the Thermoworks look very competitive price wise. I wonder how those prices would have comparted to prices for them in January?

Wish this would have been an option last year when we bought a forehead thermometer. We bought one for about $30-40 from Amazon and it's a piece of junk

Kyle, I bought one several years ago too and it is a POS. I tried it when I had a could a few weeks ago and was coughing. It kept reading me at 97.2 to 97.5.

Going to show this to the Finance Minister/War Department (Barb).
We looked on Amazon and the reviews on most weren't very good. I know with our two Thermo Pops and our three ThermoWorks timers they are reliable and very accurate, which when taking ones temperature is a necessity.
Compared to what the prices on Amazon are now the Wand is a bargain.

Ordered one and a dot, missed the case darn it.

To enter our job site you have to have your temp taken, I also have two young boys and this will make life easy.

My client has been wanting us to take our temps prior to going on-site, but that's never been verified that I know of.

FWIW, I got the shipping notification late Friday night, scheduled delivery on Monday.

It was indeed delivered today (2 items still on backorder, but I'm fine with that.) Seems to be up to Thermoworks usual fit & quality, although there's a certificate in a Pan-Asian language that I just don't know (I suspect a dialect of Japanese or Chinese, pretty sure it's not Korean, or Malaysian.) While I haven't done the side by side test yet with our oral thermometers, and quick check in the kitchen seems to be about what I'd expect, and it's FAST, about 1 second to acquisition, and an automatic threshold over 99.5 degrees F to give a distinctly different audible set of tones. Yes, I'll take it with me to the clinic for my next appointment, they've gone over to forehead IR scans.

It bears a bit of a resemblance to a ST:TNG phaser. :)
