Thermapen for temp check

Has anyone ever used their thermapen to check their WSM?

Yes. Once. It was just a "curious" thing. The results were as expected (I checked the exhaust air temp.) As always, the Thermapen was fast and accurate!

On a side note, do you really live year 'round on Middle Bass?

I look forward to my occasional trips to Put-In-Bay.

All the time. I just stick it down the top vent to check my mounted thermometer. They are usually pretty close.

I ought to, but I forget most of the time, and I even have a couple of eyelets for probes. I guess I could blame it on the fact that I need a left-handed one.

Just took delivery on the Thermapen through their winter pricing. I fine tool. I decided to test the new Maverick and thefood probe was 2 degrees off, with the bbq probe dead on. After a cook this weekend, I suspected the Maverick to be off.

Regarding full time on Middle Bass Island, not yet. A couple winter weekends and most all spring, summer, fall. When you get back to the Bay and look due west of the old Lonz winery, you'll see smoke curling from the south shore!
