There's a first time for everything....tri tip

Well I had never heard of "tri tip" before until I joined this forum. Even then I had never seen it in the stores I shop. Today I went to Whole Foods and they had some roasts. It was 8.99 lb. I don't know if that is a good price but I didn't care, I wanted one

So got home and marinated it in some Dale's for a while

then seasoned it up with some McCormick's Worcestershire pub burger and a few other seasonings

Then I fired up the performer and put the sear grate in. While it was getting hot, I cut up some peppers and onions and sliced a potato for the cheesy potato thingy everyone makes

Cooked it to 130 with a piece of hickory for smoke and threw it on the sear grate

Here it is plated. This would have been your plate but I got ahead of myself and took a bite of bread

This meat was extremely tender and tasty. I have been doing London broils the same way, but they don't compare to this. Thanks for turning me on to something new

.... and for dessert, a chocolate covered cannoli from WF

Hope you enjoyed

Thanks everyone. I think I am going to try to find one today to cook at work. Don't mind eating something 2 days in a row when they are that good.

Ya get to cook at work? Can I work there, too?
Nice lookin' tri-tip, Rick!

LOL, I am a fireman so we try to cook every shift. Sometimes we get busy and things get messed up, but oh well.

Couldn't find any tri tip today, so we are doing ribeyes on the Summit I found on CL. will try to post some pics
