I hate to be the Debbie Downer here....... but this *IS* a far more real problem than most people realize, and it doesn't take much. More and more municipalities are doing away with parking meters and going to online apps & kiosks. Short story is be careful about assuming QR codes are legit. If it looks like a sticker re-applied....... chase it online and not by a scan.
 
This reminds me of the guy that put an ad in the paper (that dates it)…
“Now is your last chance to send ten dollars to this address!”
He made thousands, when someone filed a lawsuit about mail fraud and it was dismissed simply with the drop of the gavel and the statement, “Did he promise anything?”
True story!

On our travels, we’ve found that a lot of municipalities still have parking meters, but they use an app as well as coins for payment
I’ve got a couple apps downloaded, but I search for the app instead of using the QR code provided
