So I had a heckuva time keeping my temps down and had a question/thread about it a week or two ago. Yesterday was absolute success! I added a Nomex gasket around door and lid but my main problem was having the vents too open during minion method..... this time they were 50% or less and the temp just creeped up and remained rock solid where I wanted it ( took a really long time though but that's because I did a tin can method and had the hole too big compared yo the lit coals added).....have a funny story though.

So the temp finally got to 225 I just said enough I'm putting the wings on. Took the lid off added the wings and my brand new Maverick 732 was now reading at 150....WHAT!!!! I thought for sure the temp would shoot up to 250 or 275 once I had the lid off and took my time adding the wings......what happened?? I check the connections.....I turn off receiver and transmitter....still saying 150. ARGH!! Then it hit me like a ton of bricks.....of course it's going to read low ya numb-nuts.....the lid is off and it's only 65 degrees outside.....PUT THE LID BACK ON!! (Can ya tell I'm a newb?)....WSM held 250 like a champ.

Just wanted to say you to all who responded earlier with their helpfulness.....you guys are great. Oh and I had less than than half a ring and it burned for over 8 hours......

J, every time you use it you will learn something new, after awhile you will just see what you want to cook and walk out to it like you drive a car, and go.
