Sunday night Porterhouse

My wife and son asked for steak, potatoes and broccoli tonight. By the time my wife smelled the garlic roasting on the bed of salt along side the potatoes she changed her order to just steak and potatoes.

Started with a 1-3/4" Porterhouse:

Trimmed Filet for my wife. NY Strip for my son and I. I'm no butcher but here's a pic. EVOO and Montreal Steak Seasoning:

Cheated on the potatoes...these were baked in the oven:

Thanks for looking...

Maybe you're no butcher, but you did some nice work trimming that steak up - and cooking it too.

Nice wine to boot!

Jon, I always wondered if anyone else was splitting them. It's something I started doing when the new Kroger opened by our house. They had Porterhouse for $7.99/lb and I was having the butcher cut them 2" thick. Today even at $9.19/lb when split it's a great value for the three of us. My wife gets a clean filet and we get the other side. The family eats a delicious steak dinner for $20. Can't go wrong...
