So I Swore Off Restaurant Ribs Years Ago.......

Until this past Monday it had been years since I ordered ribs in a restaurant. They are just a disappointment and never as
good as making your own. So we are at a local place that had a buy a rib dinner and get a 1/2 slab free. My wife liked the deal,
but the ribs, well they arrived wrapped in foil, bones and the rib meat had parted company in the foil. mushy, with an OK sauce.
Never again I say! It is so much nicer to just make your own.....

I'm with you Bob. I haven't ordered ribs in a restaurant for over 10 years. I love BB's and have been able to cook them very well for at least 10 years. The only time I would be tempted would be at a restaurant called "Houston's." The BB ribs there were the best, my goal was to make mine come out just like their's.

Agree on mush. I actually got a guy angry who said ****** had the best ribs he's ever eaten. I says "no way, they're just mush". He says no, they were great, fall off the bone (like Bob said). And he actually started to get hot under the collar because I said that. Oh well, to each his own.

That's what restaurants are catering to and if everybody buys them, why change. To me, they have the consistency of mashed potatoes (just a different flavour.).

If that's the best you've ever eaten, well that doesn't make them good. It just means you haven't eaten better ones ;) .

I know I posted about a trip to Pat's BBQ where they passed off a rack of undercooked (no pullback at all) spares as babybacks to a friend (had to be back in 2012). Here, try one he said :). I wished I hadn't :)

I'll eat restaurant bbq, and sometimes it's even good. If it's fall-off-the bone I still enjoy it. That undercooked rib shared with me was pretty much the only bad thing I've had from a bbq restaurant.
