Smoking two Briskets?

Would it be ok to smoke 2 Briskets at the same time-one on each rack? I know the drippings from the top one will fall down onto the bottom one? Any negatives from this? Maybe the bottom one fat side up so the drippings would not hit the meat side and wash off the rub?

Thanks much,
Dan

Sure, that's what you do in a vertical smoker. Rub washing off from drippings is negligible, and once the rub is set, those drippings aren't hurting a thing since they're basting the one on a bottom.

Dan, I read and responded to your other post today before I saw this one. It makes me wonder if you found another brisket from a different source and are doing a little experiment to see how the 2 briskets turn out compared to each other? Let us know how they turn out, man I'm really getting hungry now!

Hi Steve, I got the 7lb brisket I mentioned in the other thread. Thinking I will invite some family over for brisket and don't think the 7lber will be enough for everyone so I'm going to get another of similar size to smoke on the bottom rack.

I'm really anxious to try these small Briskets out.

Thanks,
Dan

I hope you plan on wrapping them in foil for a good part of the cook. Small briskets are particularly bad about drying out before getting tender.
