Smokefire on sale

Rich,
You have a great, rock solid pellet grill. I decided my “fix” for now is the special deflector made by Smoke Daddy costing about a hundred bucks. It holds wood chunks, or even a whole smaller stick, and burns them slowly to add smoke very similar to what the Camp Chef Woodwind Pro does with that push in box.

I hope to try out soon. Let me be the guinea pig. If it works well, you can do the same on your Camp Chef.
Jon, that Smoke Daddy diffuser looks like a great way to get that stick burner flavor. Barb and I are completely happy with the flavors we get from the pellets and occasionally using a pellet smoking tube. We are not big fans of a heavy smoky flavor.
As for the Camp Chef it is getting upgraded to a new PID controller, picked one up when Amazon had their big sale for $50 the exact same controller CC sells for $150. After a couple of hundred cooks the old controller was acting flaky so a new controller and temperature probe it will be good to go.

I'm likely going to pull the trigger on either the Sear+ or the Stealth. Trying to decide if the Sear+ is worth $150 more. Main differences are: bigger top shelf, side shelf, sear grate and lighted control knob? Everything else is essentially the same? Not sure I care about the bigger 2nd shelf as the grill is already more than large enough for my needs. I could order the side shelf and sear grate later. Is the sear grate worth it?

Also, any benefit from ordering directly from Weber vs Amazon?

Those things almost sound worth the $150 to me. My Big Z has neatly the same dimensions grate wise. My Z has a sliding top shelf, but I have had a couple instances I would have loved that expandable shelf. No opinion on the sear grate. And any time you can get more shelf space I say take it

The larger top expanding/folding shelf is really nice, I do all my smoking on the top and the extra real estate is nice. The left side shelf is really nice, much sturdier that the add on one that Weber sells. The sear grate is really nice quality, but I prefer the standard steel grates myself. I think the Sear+ is worth the extra $150. Good luck with your decision.

I ordered a full depth top grate for my EX6 and love it. I do all low and slow on the top grate and set my drip pans on the lower grate. Simple. If I'm grilling I remove the top grate. With the folding grate you just fold it back for grilling. For me - Sear + is worth it.
