Simple Burgers on New Grill Toy

I saw GrillGrates advertised on television and after doing some research decided to purchase
them through the Amazon link on the home page. With my collection of Webers I know they will
get well used. Cleaned and ready to go onto my heated Performer. I also know that they will
fit my WSM and I plan on getting a Weber Q320 and they will fit that one too.

6 quarter pound burgers were waiting for the grill.

Sprayed oil on the GrillGrates and put the burgers on.

Burgers are just about done. Was trying to figure out why my grill was only getting up to around
400 degrees and finally figured out that when I set it up tonight I forgot to remove my bricks which
I use for a heat shield..Duh!!

Burgers are done and they look like there was minimal shrinkage, if any, during the cook.

Plated with my wife’s tater tot casserole and macaroni salad.

Burgers were very tasty and juicy. I do know that the next time I use the GrillGrates I will not
have my heat sink in the kettle. I will let everyone know my thoughts on these after a few more cooks.
So far they work as advertised.

Thanks for looking!

Fantastic lookin' burgers, Mike!

Those new grates look pretty cool. Looking forward to your impression on how they work out on future cooks.

Like Morgan, I too, would like to know your wife's recipe for tater tot casserole.:)

Thanks everyone! Okay for those who want my wife's recipe for Tater Tot Casserole here it is:

1 family bag of either hash browns or tater tots (we prefer tater tots)
2 cans of cream of mushroom soup
1 can of milk (just fill one of the empty mushroom soup cans with milk)
Tons of cheese (I guess you can figure out how cheesy you want it ) We have used sharp cheddar and pepper jack, but you can use what you like

Heat the milk, mushroom soup and cheese until the cheese is melted.
Pour over the hash browns or tater tots.
Bake at 375 for 45 - 60 minutes, until golden brown and slightly crusty.
Let cool, eat and enjoy!!

Thanks Mike! Sounds delish. We do something similar but haven't used the cheese. That will put it over the edge!:)

And a big thank you to Mike and Mikes wife from all us meat eaters looking for amazing sides to go with our BBQ!!

You are going to really like those GrillGrates, I use mine on my performer and Q's (300 and 320) can't beat the sear marks and the flavor they add when using them. On the Q's, I have been putting a small piece of smoke wood on one side and when it starts to smoke I then start cooking and end up with a nice smoke flavor.

I've was considering GrillGrates for my gasser, but it's been out of propane all summer
Those burgers and sides look very tasty.

Nice cook and great sides.

I'm a big believer in the GrillGrates. You get a real high temp with them. No flare up to speak of and this is great with Roadside Chicken cooking over direct. Perfect sear marks and I'm with Tom on smoke chips. I sometimes throw them on the side and other times put a couple right under the meat that is cooking. It's a great product.

Thanks everyone for your kind words! And thanks to all of you who are currently using the GrillGrates. You have given me some good information that I plan on putting to use. :)

Congrats on your new grates, great looking burgers, and terrific photos Mike.
And thanks for the GrillGrate review.
