Should I grab this grill? What is it, exactly?

Can anyone help me identify this grill? Should I add it to my growing collection?

Thank you!

Thank you. That helped me find some more info. Looks like it's a 2001 Genesis Gold B.

Other than the heavier frame, is there anything else about this grill that makes it particularly worth keeping/restoring?

Thank you.

Cooking wise, not really. But there are not many of these around. I like the style, condiment rack on the front, and no floor to rust out. Although, that does appear to be missing the wire rack on the bottom.

Yeah finding that rack will be difficult at best. You may be able to make shift something. They're cool grills though. From a styling standpoint. Re. functionality so different than a standard one

What is the asking price? I think they are special enough to warrant serious consideration. I also think it won’t be impossible to get a new wire rack, but if you have to get it shipped that will cost. These grills with their stout Summit frames look more “macho” than other Genesis grills.

The one possible negative I can think of is that for their pretty large width they don’t really offer a ton of shelf space. And as others have said the actual firebox/grilling space is no different than a regular Genesis. For shelf space in a more efficient package, the late Genesis Silver Special Edition that had fold down shelves on both sides makes more sense to me.

Still if this is at a decent price, go for it! You will have a Weber you don’t see every day.

It could be that the wire rack from a Silver C would fit that frame.

They definitely have a different design, the wire rack on the gold just sits on top of the frame, it doesn't have the part that wraps over the frame. I had both this summer but I never tried to see if they fit on each other.

I had a Genesis Platinum I was going to restore which is similar to this. It’s a beautiful grill and the beefed up frame is a plus, but for its size the lack of shelf space made me move on to my current grill (resto/mod Genny 3000).

Joe, I have one too and one of the other odd style genesis Platinum designed grills. While both are cool looking, they are both too big, too heavy and don't have enough shelf space for me. I am not even going to try to rehab them.

Another oddity about this model was the deep cookbox but with only 5, taller than normal, flavorizer bars. It will also not accept the newer style cookboxes, I had a brand new Silver B cookbox that I was trying to retrofit but the manifolds and spacing are not interchangeable.

A little Unicorn followed me Home...

They clean up quite nice.

As Borat would say, "Niiiice, very niice. High five!"

That sure is pretty! Didn't you sell this one a few months back?

Bobby,
I remember following that. It was encouraging to see that if you are patient there are people out there who appreciated something special - even in a gas grill! Your workmanship certainly deserved at least that price.
