ChuckO

TVWBB 1-Star Olympian
A day late and the cook took nearly 10 hours. I kept the photos coming for the first 8 hours, but after all that time and lost count of adult beverages, photos ceased to exist. Not my best cook, but not bad either

Chuck, the color of your ribs are so much better than mine that I had crammed into rib racks.

What fuel and wood did you use?

looks amazing! The dog is sleeping on the job with those deer lurking about.. :p

I'm still thinking about your cedars. Were they mature trees? that sounds like a lot of work - was the wood at least salvageable? Cedar can be expen$ive....

Just Kingsford original and a lump or two of Hickory. I'm guessing the color difference is probably the spritzer. I had equal parts of Apple Juice and 7UP (zero) and a couple shakes of Worcestershire

Picture #3 looks like you were about 10 adult beverages in........;)
I might have been at 10 when I started BBQ-ing. I opened a 1.75L bottle of Kirkland's Spiced Rum when the Indy 500 started and it was more than half empty when the day was done. Wife said I was the only one pounding it. Spiced Rum & Coke Zero has become my go to of late, kind of like my high-skool days :)

They were the young trees, not all that tall (maybe 20' - 30') The really big Cedars don't have the sooty. I asked around and they say the only way to get rid of it is to remove it as it will (and had) spread. If I strip the bark off it, the wood is fine underneath. I might do something with it. There's tons of Oak saplings I can harvest, I might dig them up and replace the Cedars with Oaks, I just can't get enough raking of leaves, lol

That's a pretty good haul.
Me and the MRS can get behind something like that here and there especially when everything weather / bbq is perfect......
Mind you there is no way I could handle that much sweet rum and coke.....the next day would extremely terrible.
I stick to the clear drinks when I partake.....this allows me to do many chores the next day if I have 1 or 2 too many......;)
Also keep the calorie count considerably.....recipes by PM if you are interested.
