Longtime TVWBB members will remember Dean Torges, author of The Bowyer's Edge website and book and DVD on bow hunting. He was always posting messages here about how to cook what to most of us were unusual cuts of meat procured through hunting, but sometimes simple things like the cast iron potatoes made by his wife, Mary. Dean even dabbled in using the WSM as a vessel in which to do Dutch oven cookery, and he provided some written material and photos that I used in a guest article on The Virtual Weber Bullet:
Dutch Oven Cookery In The Weber Smoker
I learned recently that Dean passed away on November 4, 2016 after a battle with cancer. A celebration of his life was held in Ohio last Saturday, April 22, 2017 on Earth Day.
Dean wrote some very moving blog posts as he grappled with cancer, and his friend Jan Adkins posted a fitting tribute to his friend. You can read them at http://www.bowyersedge.com/ Make sure to click the small link "Enter BoyersEdge.com" at the bottom of the page to read Dean's posts.

It's also my sad duty to report that TVWBB member Cy Robinson passed away on March 14, 2017. Cy was a fairly active poster here until July 2012, at which time his post activity dropped off, but he continued to read forum posts and my monthly TVWB News e-mail newsletter.
In December 2014, Cy was selected by random drawing to win a 14.5" WSM in our Christmas prize drawing. He was so excited to receive it, despite the brutally cold winter in Missouri that year:
I got a lovely note from his daughter saying that she found an email folder containing years of TVWBB material, and closed with, "Thank you for the joy and friendship you gave to my father."
That thank you, by extension, goes to all of you, who every day help and support one another here on the forum.
Cy was a retired pastor, a man of faith, and his bulletin board signature read:
Don't forget to love one another!
What a great sentiment to leave behind for all of us...
Best,
Chris

"The box, unopened, occupies a place of honor in our living-room. It is unopened because we are having the coldest winter since we moved here. Night time lows are often below zero when the wind kicks up. As soon as the weather cooperates we will put the smoker to good use."
