Replacing a 310 Genesis cookbox with 330

I have the older 310 Genesis and a 330 cookbox of the same year. Would it be possible to swap them out? I would not have a sear burner, so that hole to fit the burner would be empty.

If you are concerned, you might try sticking a metal patch over the hole from the outside using high temperature RTV sealant. I would prefer to drill the firebox and pop rivet it on but since I have never attempted to drill one I would not advise you to try it on a new box in case it cracked or broke it.

Just like when the early Summits get big rust holes in the firebox, and flame propagation occurs behind the control panel, honestly I would not do it.

@JamesMT I would convert it to an E330. The sear burner is a game changer.

You already have and would use:
3 main burners
3 knobs
3 main valves
E330 cookbox

You will need:
E330 manifold ( without valves )
Sear burner
Sear valve
Sear knob
front control panel with the extra cut-out for a sear burner.
Igniter kit for the E330 ( 4 wire)

Sear Burner: $25

Sear Valve: $25

Sear Knob: $10

Igniter set for the E330 that has four outputs. $22

I believe I have an extra E330 bare manifold.
I believe I have an extra E330 control panel, but all the markings have worn off.
If I can dig these out of my garage, I'd send them for shipping costs, say $25 to $30 or so. maybe less.

So for about $120 or so you could upgrade it to an E330.

edit: if you are considering this, don't buy anything until I confirm I have the manifold and control panel.

The sear burner tube on these is identical to the other burners, even though the single sear burner is listed and sold as a separate part with its own part number. When you take it out of the bag, it will have the same markings as the other burners.

if you can salvage a burner from the parts being offered you can save another $25.

I have a 330 that I'll be scrapping after one last cook. If you want the parts from it, I'd be happy to send them for the cost of shipping. I'd recommend replacing the sear burner as its kind of clogged, but if you want to put in the effort it may clean up
@JamesMT I'd work out a deal with Chris.

If you work out a deal with @Chris in NY I would request front control panel, knobs, manifold with valves, the burners the side table with the burner built in, the slide out bottom pan.

even if it is $50 in shipping plus a beer or three for his effort it is well worth doing and cheaper than buying the parts I listed above.

checkout pirateship.com for good prices on shipping.
