Very nice - You should get that for that grill. I am in Richmond but have seen some good deals pop up in your area when searching. If I see more I will try to let you know.

Yes, that is really nice with that decking and black trim. Both grills are great "saves" from being lost eventually to a landfill.

The hammered metal paint I used for the bottom panel (plus other parts) is by Rustoleum. It has a nice texture which helps hide surface imperfections. Here it is the actual paint I used plus close ups of the surface in a few parts. Please note that for the stainless front panel, I roughed it up with steel wool, wire wheel, and applied a metal etching primer before applying the silver. All other parts (bottom panel) - no primer was used.

That paint is going to peel off the front panel since it will get very hot. Honestly I think the stainless is nicer but I like the shelf

You may be right about the temperature. The hammered paint resists to 250 F - next time I use the grill I’m going to check the panel temperature. There is an air gap between the fire box and front panel - might be enough to keep it below 250. Time will tell!

David,
Even if that part doesn't work out, it is a really nice look for the parts that don't get hot. The close-ups really bring that out.

Yah, that paint looks like a great solution when you have a rusted panel to paint and want to hid the pitting after grinding the rust out of it.

I just listed my first grill of the year, a Gold C with the extra shelf instead of the side burner. I also had a plain bottom pan like yours but mine was rusted through so I welded in some angle iron cross members and used composite decking as the base.

Looks nice - Stainless is my favorite, no chance of the Weber fade. If I would find a Platinum some time, I may be temped to keep it.

I have two SS platinums in my stable waiting for attention. Of course the bottoms are all rotted out on them as well. I don't like the SS lids for the reasons you can see in my photos. That dang liner always rusts out and if not, it is impossible to totally clean. I will put regular colored lids on them. One will likely stay in my posession however while the other will find a new home.

I am confused. I thought I read something about Genesis hoods are hoods double lined and Spirit hoods are not? I thought all of the hoods had the same liners on the inside. I have not actually taken the hoods apart. Maybe that is only on the II series? Thanks

I just watched a video on them and yes the new Genesis have a liner inside the hood and the Spirits do not. I have not personally come across an older Weber with Stainless hood so I always thought it would have black enamel on the inside. I guess I was wrong.
I did just pick up a 2018 Spirit II with cover and tank for $50 (another guy that went to a pellet grill). Just cleaned it up today. I hate that it has only 2 wheels. I move my grills around a lot. On the bright side it only took an hour to clean up, as it is so much easier washing of 2 years of grease than it is 10-20 years!
Here is the listing: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/280055166997474/
I also picked up a WSM 18 tonight and I plan on doing a corned beef on tomorrow if it doesn't rain. It will be my first ever cook on a WSM.

The guy had that listed for $250 and you got it for $50. WOW. It is quite clean compared to the Silver B's and 1000's. haha.

The "Trex" solution is growing on me.... Versus picking and paying for lumber, planing, sanding, conditioning, staining, cutting, varnishing, exhausting. Everything else in the rehab comes together so easily... and then there's.... THE SLATS.

Tony, yep, that is why I used synthetic as well. Just saves a whole lot of time and durability and maintenance is much easier. Probably why Weber switched from wood to durawood.
This is one reason I shy away from Genesis 1000 rehabs as well. They just wind up being more work than Silver B/C grills even if they are durawood.

I bought it dirty for $50 and that is my ad for selling it now for $250. Based on offers so far I think I'm over-priced.
