Yeah, it's the one we always pass on Craigslist. It's that one that's just begging to be put in the game and faithfully keeps the bench warm.

If you have one, (and I know you do) let's see what your setup is and what you can do with it.

I'll start.

I made a 16 inch pizza tonight on mine. I don't use it much, but I think it bakes really well.

I had it at 500 degrees for a pizza. Stone inside.

The pizza!

Finished! Sorry, we plated some before I shot the picture. It was rolled really thin and came out perfectly crispy, but didn't rise much and the crust didn't brown much either. I may need a little more practice.

I love the little guy.

Haave you seen the guy who made a pizza oven out of an 18". He cut the bottom out and used a gas burner as the heat. I;m thinking of ding the same and using fire bricks for the stone.
He also uses a pizza stome on the inside top to help reflect heat.

By the way, nice Pizza!

I thought about making one too, but I don't really like the one in the video with tin foil and cut lid. He makes the process look a little complicated as well. Nice looking finished pie though.

Yeah, I wouldn't cut the lid or use foil. But I might put s pizza stone inside the lid. They claim it helps cook the top better.
I have some freebie black 18' grills to play with..

I think I will always need to keep one on hand. I love taking mine places because it brakes down so easy and is so much smaller than the 22. I will be making a custom charcoal basket for it soon too.

You could make into a touch and carry.
Probably pretty easy..

OK, "Tuck and Carry"
Apparently, "Literacy" is required on this forum! Lol..

You could also make "The Traveler" out of it by just cutting the legs off where the wheels connect. I will be doing that myself.

I use my 18" Bar-B-Kettle quite a bit. Many times it's the right size for food for 1 or 2, when the 22" would be too large.

I have to say, Shaun, I miss my 18. I love my 26 and couldn't get by without it, but the 18 OTS was the first weber kettle I ever bought, with my own money, to put out on the tiny deck of my tiny first apartment. Seemed a lot bigger back then =D Congratulations on your rediscovery, sometimes it's nice to simplify.

You convinced me Dan. My 18.5" was also my first charcoal grill so now I feel I have to keep it. It will continue to be my go to tailgate buddy!

Shaun, Yeah I saw it. A bit of an oddity... Wouldn't a Jumbo Joe be more portable?

Have you ever seen a real Traveler? Gotta be rare..

Shaun, Yeah I saw it. A bit of an oddity... Wouldn't a Jumbo Joe be more portable? Yeah, I like the Jumbo, but I also like the height of the traveler. With the SJP I was always looking for some place to set it higher. These days I just take the whole darn thing with me.

Shaun, I think you make too much work for yourself!
I would be interested to know what Weber thought when they made it..

Dang Shaun! Your putting a guilt trip on me! Just two days ago I finally let a guy talk me out of my 18, at least it will be used now. I only used it as a stand for my chimney the last few years. Originally bought it for tailgating and small cooks but I really don't do anything small. I did promise my wife I would get rid of a grill when I bought my 22" WSM, but of course I just rearranged them

Too bad you parted with it, I have cooked up a cool "original" mod I will be introducing soon. You will be amazed at how roomy the 18 actually can be. Coming soon.......
