Reason to wear safety glasses with angle grinder

Full face shield for me....I had a high-speed Dremel bit shatter and go off like a grenade last year...safety shield saved my face from numerous shards.

Let me see, what would you do after almost chopping your face in half.
A. Go to the bathroom and look in the mirror and wash your face?
B. Go to the ER?
C. Take a selfie video and tweet it?

Was not able to view the video... but will say I can appreciate it, especially after using a ram-set one time in an excavated area when fastening some flashing after a new concrete pour. It was dark in the hole and took off the glasses to set the shot.

I am lucky the concrete blow-off only my cheek.

Sometimes we get complacent within the sensation of comfort, convenience and ritual.

I agree that one should take the extra time to use safety equipment and to do things carefully. My friend just told me about the guy doing a solar installation at the CSA Farm we know that he cut off four of his fingers off using the Skil Saw. Uggh, awful. I’m always crazy careful around my saws even though I’ve been using them for 30+ years.

Before you use any power tool (or do any potentially dangerous task, for that matter), ask yourself "What could go wrong?" (remember Murphy's Law?), "How could I get hurt if (when) it does?", and "What can I do to protect myself?" I worked for 40+ years as an industrial safety consultant, and taught this to a lot of people, but still managed to spray Gumout carburetor cleaner in my eye by failing to follow my own advice. Which led to another question, courtesy of my wife: "Don't you get paid to teach people not to do things like that?"

Usually the rule is don't stand directly behind one of those when slicing vertically.
Stand off to one side either L or R.
