Read Any Good Books Lately?

Not my typical read, we watched the series on TV, enjoyed them, heard the books are better. I’m halfway through the books, the detail at which she wrote is over the top

I have eclectic tastes in books. Anything from Tolkien to Stuart Woods, to Carl Hiaasen, Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, and so on.
At the suggestion of a friend, I've been reading the Stuart Woods Stone Barrington series of stories. They're fun reads. Right now I'm in the middle of "Two Dollar Bill"
Rick, I just finished this book, 4th time around  :giggle:

I have read most of the Stone Barrington series. I liked the earlier ones a lot more than the later. i have the last eight to read and keep putting them off

Just finished "The One" by John Marrs. Five story lines with five twists and turns. A good read that draws you in. Have not watched the series but will after the wife reads the book. I love to compare adaptations to the original work.

Still rereading "Stone" GOSH!!!! I wish someone would do it as a weekly TV series

Finished "Confronting the Presidents". Great and very interesting/informative historical analysis as all the Bill O'Reilly books are

I read "Conclave" recently and watched the movie last night on Prime Video. Pretty good adaptation of the book but the book fills in a lot of gaps. It might be of interest with the Conclave coming soon to select a Pope. As a non-Catholic, I learned a bit about the inner workings.

I've been trying audiobooks lately and I think I've found a good one: Annie Jacobsen, "Nuclear War: A Scenario"

Gripping, but probably not recommended for the faint of heart.

Well, right now I am in the middle of "Presumed Guilty" by Scott Turow. It is the third book of the "Presumed Innocent" series. The strange thing is the nearly 40 year gap between the release of first and third installment. It has been so long since I read the first two that I had forgotten much of them. This book does fill in a little of the past though.

I noticed your bump and was thinking maybe we have few ardent readers here. Perhaps we should have a "seen any good videos lately" thread. I could really get into that too.

something very weird, but I enjoyed immensely is Charles Stross' book series. I read Dead Lies Dreaming and loved it.

It is weird though. Afterwards I read the Author has a background in IT, which explains a lot, but not all of the weirdness. And it was an actual horror book.

Just started Bill O'Reilly's Confronting Evil (his latest book) Pretty riveting. On the Genghis Khan chapter

Only $19 at Costco for hard copy
I am at a point where I much prefer reading my Kindle than a hard copy. But, I hate to buy digital media because it feels like I own nothing. So, I get most of my reads digitally from the library. Sometimes a wait but there is always something available while you wait for the holds.

There are many free Kindle books on Amazon...I have almost 900 Kindle books that I have collected over the years, all free. Here's one I picked up today. Of course, I will never read them, but I'm a sucker for "Free". Note that these are like "Lightning Deals" in that they are only free for a limited time.

Also, I have never "Lost" or had Amazon remove a title on me, so I think it's safe to say that it is yours to keep. I think there are ways of backing a title up (I've done that with audiobooks that I have purchased) if you are still uncertain.
