Watching this with my GF at the time. Only movie I've ever seen that truly scared me :poop: less. Especially the scene where the head drops from the bottom of the boat. I literally jumped so hard up I was sitting on the back of the seat in the theater. Then felt searing pain in my hand before realizing it was my girlfriend's teeth. She'd grabbed my hand and IDK why but clamped down on it and I was so oblivious due to being frighted to death I didn't realize she'd done that. Laughs, apologies and first aid followed :D

I've seen films I just CANNOT watch ever and would have walked out had I been in theater one coming to mind. The Deer Hunter. Part way in it totally sickened me to the point I could bare no more. Even though I paid for the rental I did not care

I was sitting in a packed walk-in theatre next to a young kid that kept saying, "Oh :poop:! Oh :poop:! Oh :poop:!" as he was climbing up the back of the seat. That was a great thrill ride.

I have a question about the the penal codes of the western United States; specifically, do any of the states have reciprocity agreements with each other?

Apparently there was this guy who shot a man in Reno - a particularly heinous crime, as it was done just to watch him die - but was sent to Folsom State Prison in California to serve his sentence. I find this to be very confusing, as I would've expected him to be sent to a Nevada correctional institution.

RVs are the ticket to an itinerant, back-to-nature lifestyle for millions of Americans. Behind those footloose dreams, however, are vehicle-quality problems that have been blamed for injuries and deaths…

Unlike highly automated car plants, RV factories typically rely on workers who assemble vehicles by hand. Employees are often paid by the unit instead of a straight hourly wage and can leave once they hit their quota. Some former workers say the system encourages speed over thoroughness.

“The piece rate thing is great, but if you know you’ll get out early when you get done, that’s where the crap comes from,” said Fred Cook, who spent most of his career working in RV factories, including six years at a Forest River plant…

In one case, workers punctured microwaves they were installing with screws that were the incorrect length. In another, inspectors discovered misaligned furnace flues a month after the employee who was checking them quit. In 2023, the company recalled 50 towable campers after finding that workers had created a fire risk by inserting the wrong fuse into power distribution centers.

The reason? The factory had a shortage of the correct fuse.

This was our day today

We hit some rough roads on I95 crossing into NY from CT today and it knocked my 7 pin plug loose! There was no shoulder there, so I took the next exit to reinsert the plug. Once I did that, it wanted me to do a U-turn that I couldn’t have made in one shot if I DIDN’T have a fifth wheel hooked up!

Instead of having us go a short way and turning around, it took us through Yonkers!! WITAH!?!?

That lovely detour added almost 2 hours to our travels today. But that’s not the worst!!

We got off of the interstate in NJ and were heading to the campground. The GPS took us down a road through a neighborhood. This isn’t new to us, so we followed it down to where the pavement ended.

The GPS took us down this dirt/sandy road and said that it was just a short way down. Ok, until it wanted us to turn down a trail! You could fit a 4X4 down it, but a 3/4 ton truck and 38’ fifth wheel? Not a chance!!

So we kept going. I was WAY too tired and aggravated to even attempt backing up 1/2 a mile!

Things were going ok(I won’t use the term fine), until the road narrowed right after a curve! There was also a tree leaning over that I didn’t notice until it forcibly removed our awning!! 🤬🤬🤬

I got out, and after looking, took the arms off as best as I could. I also used MANY words that are NOT acceptable on this forum!! I’ll go back tomorrow and pick the pieces up

Also tomorrow morning, I’ll get up on the roof and inspect that, as well as remove the rest of the awning arms. I’ll also add some sealant to where the screws ripped out of the side

Are we having fun yet? ☹️

Once we encountered such strong side winds on the freeway that it unfurled our awning all the way across the roof to the other side of the motorhome. I swear, at one point I felt the driver's side of the MH come up off the ground...at that point, I'd had enough and pulled off the freeway and limped home via a route that kept the wind at my back. This is a 11,000lb GAWR vehicle that my wife would pack to 12k easy.

Another time I had some clown brake-check me because I didn't slow down enough to let him merge on the freeway. Folks, these rigs weigh about 3x or 4x more than that tin box you ride in, and while you may not know what brake fade is, try to appeciate that it takes 3x or 4x or more distance to stop and start than your tin box takes. Don't ever brake-check a large vehicle or semi-truck, please.

But some of the best times of our lives were had in that motorhome. I'm so envious, Phil, and I look forward to hearing about your travails travels! You are truly livin' the dream.

And because of that incident and some others, I don't go anywhere without a dashcam these days. Phil, they are cheap and dead simple to install. I highly recommend you CYA with one of them.

This is actually my brother's motorhome. They bought this actual one. Sadly they sold their house and almost all their stuff and went out on their "journey". They got as far as Duluth MN and the unit is at a Freightliner dealer with a bum Allison transmission that no one can figure out the problem with. Multiple part replacements and still no bueno. So they packed up as much as they could and stuffed it into the tow car and headed off to Montana leaving the busted Freightliner at the dealer in Duluth. Hard way to have 1/2 Mil $$ be left
While they bought this particular unit, he had it shipped to another place that gutted it and completely redid it inside all custom for them.
Not for me. Ugh!
