Congratulations. Now the fun begins :D
Thank you!
I've cleaned a BUNCH of stuff up, either throwing it away, selling/giving it away, or putting it away in our storage room!
Now, we've basically got 3 weeks to get the rest out
Moving sale the next to last weekend of the month, when we'll move into our camper for a couple weeks while we get rid of the rest of the stuff
THEN, the adventure begins!

I am the poster child for ADD and ADHD.
I become bored faster than most.

That said,
I would love to spend a summer on the coastal areas of Alaska.
Fishing, hunting, photography, whale watching, kayaking……
The list of cool things one can do there is amazing.

Heck I’d even be fine waiting on tables for the morning shift so I could fish all afternoon.
Maybe see if I could get a dispatch to fit or weld pipe for a week or so.
I’ve done a bunch power plants and always wanted a little piece of the Alaskan Pipeline.
Knowing I’d be done at the end of the week or the short shutdown would make it fun too.
I don't have to work but I’ve always enjoyed it.

The wife and I spent 10 days on a cruise ship with a bunch of stops and day excursions there the other year and I didn’t want to come home.
I never felt that way before.
I think I could easily do a summer there.
Usually it’s 3-5 days and I’m ready to go home.

The Titanic rests in an area that is 375 atmospheres deep.
The pressure at 375 atmospheres is 5,500 pounds per square inch.
If you opened a fully pressurized scuba tank in this area it would not leak bubbles.
It would suck in water instead.

How should I have asked the question ?
Written communication can be misunderstood.

Your original question could be interpreted as

Who cares if the people of Southern California are dealing with an unprecedented disaster

Or

The people of Southern California are dealing with an unprecedented disaster and people aren’t voicing concern here.

Or something else.

It’s a truly horrible situation and it’s hard to watch it unfold from the comfort of my living room.

Just my $.02

It's the only thing on TV. I just hope...I sincerely hope...that this isn't arson. The winds are very strong, gusting up to 80mph. 100,000's of people evacuated. 1,000's of structures and businesses destroyed, losses estimated to be $20-$30B. Already the news is calling this the worst wildfire ever in California. 20 people arrested for looting already. The winds are supposed to die down tomorrow...they died down last night but picked up again this morning. 0% containment on any of the fires so far.

Yeah, honestly it really tears at ya watching what these people are going through. We can criticize mistakes made but right now we just have to feel terrible for what our fellow humans are going through. I mean it really looks like the fire bombing of WWII gut wrenching

I don't know what it is about people...they like to see stuff burn, I guess. We had the hill up the street from our house catch fire many years ago, people could see it from the freeway and literally clogged the streets trying to get a better view.

My wife made the same comment, said it looks like a war zone. So, so sad. That is a beautiful part of the state, Pacific Palisades and Malibu. Right by the ocean, but they don't want to drop sea water on the area for a lot of reasons. The news people reporting the fire, you can see the embers just blowing right past them, they are wearing protective clothing, of course. There's really not much you can do with a fire when the winds are so strong. If it were up to me, I'd shoot looters on sight.

Here's an eerie picture...I see a face in the flames, my wife sees a doggy face.
