Howdy folks...Saturday was a busy day...we decided to throw caution to the wind and forego our norm and take the new boat out to put some hours on it!! Here is the first mate in action!

And basically succeeded in making a complete mess of the boat...(no sea critters were harmed in this post today!)

Any how got home and decided chicken was in order!! Quick thawed some thighs..added some BBQ rub I found in the cuppboard(cocoa/coffee brisket rub found on the rub recipes page of this form...thanks Kevin )yep it was for brisket but oh well...lets try it!
Chicken and reds on indirect!

After about 20 minutes I added some #5 sauce for a glaze!

All plated up with buttered taters, steamed Gus and the new Ale that came out this week from Alaskan..pretty good brew..we christened the boat with one today...chicken turned out really tasty...

Guess spring is over!!

Take care!

Awesome looking cook Morgan! I have used that cocoa coffee rub on pork chops and it is delicious, so it is not only for brisket, as you found out. ;)

Great lookin' cook, Morgan. Is that the first mates paw prints on the window? Love it! Now I'm showing my newbie; is there a collection of pictures of past catches out there? The emotions our companions can show us...

Bummer!!! I'll bet the chicken wished the same thing!!! lol, great looking meal!!

Hey Morg! Can't take the boat out anymore around here - gas is WAY too expensive. Loved your cook, and especially found it inspiring that you said it was "quick". Gotta just get after it like you do! Anyway, thanks for inspiring. And can I please ask that you bring that gorgeous doggie inside and give him/her a big hug? We just lost our beloved Shelly and it hits a heart string. Thanks for your great posts, Morgan! -Mickey.

Great looking chicken! Too bad no fish to go with it, but that meal would have been plenty for me.

....thanks Mickey...I know the feeling about those fuel prices...and sorry for your loss!! We lost one last summer. You don't have to worry about Gerti...she is spoiled as they come! I. Fact I have two labs on my lap as I write this!!

Thanks everyone for the great response!! Joe here is another pic for ya!

Thanks again!!

Thanks for the reassurance, Morgan. Thought that might be Gerti (she stars in many of your posts...) but she looked a bit chilled and more pensive than usual and it just got me. What I'd give for just one more hug of our Shell-Belle. Your doggies are plenty spoiled and completely content! In honor of the upcoming St Paddy's Day, this is sent with my best Irish Brogue: Warm's me heart, it does. Thanks, Morgan! -Mickey.

Great cook. Sorry no fish, but a day on the water not catching is a day better than not on the water not fishing....................d
