Pulled Pork for Future Use

My Labor day cook wasn't all that exciting. I smoked 5 pork butts on the Performer + Cajun Bandit, and vacuum sealed them for the freezer. Last year, I found that having some pulled pork stockpiled in the freezer comes in handy during the holiday season when we have family staying over.

Nice color on the pork butts.
That's a great idea you never know who will show up .....

good idea. what's your method for cooking it up once frozen?

I slowly bring it up to serving temperature by placing the frozen FoodSaver bags in a big pot of simmering water. Since the pork is still in the bag, it retains all the moisture.

Very nice looking PP. I try to stock pile stuff and I never seem get anywhere. I smoked 4 chickens last week pulled it, placed in 1 lb bags and vacusucked them with the Food saver. Family came over that evening and I'm down to one pound. I just smoked a bunch of chicken quarters today and will pull them tomorrow, Lets see if these will make it in the freezer. So far I have only lost 3 quarters to people.

Pork butts look great! I do the same thing but not for company coming over
but for the two boys. One in college and one in the military. They help support
my BBQ addiction by taking my leftovers!! ;)

Excellent batch. How long do they keep for?

I find that pulled pork freezes quite well when vacuum sealed. Last summer, I froze a batch, then served it during the Christmas season. After reheating it, I sprayed it with some apple juice, which helped bring it out of hibernation.

If you have a big enough crock pot you can also put it in on low with the lid off and not have to tend it much.My crock will stay right around 140 this way.

Great idea! I also like to freeze in smaller size 1-2 cup size packs for use in baked beans, nachos or tacos... Makes for an easy quick small meal(s)
