This Pentel gel pen has a metal tip and 0.7 mm ball. One of the best gel pens I've used. Buy 2 for $3.50 on Amazon. Good pen. Good ink.

They are nice and since we are talking about pens, if you like a fountain pen, the Lamy “Safari” is really great for the buck!

I used to be a PaperMate guy until I dropped it and it broke
I've had a SS Parker for about 10 years or so
Under $20 and the refills are inexpensive too!
I got a bad batch of refills once and complained about it on Twitter
They sent me a DM and asked for my address
It took 3 months, but they sent me some free replacements!
Not THAT'S customer service!!

Fresh ink is critical, twenty years in art material sales taught me the value of not worrying about being “ink cheap” and using ten+ year old ink which has begun “caking” in the bottle. Cartridges are not prone to that but, I like bottle ink even if I really need to pitch it after 18-24 months. (Waterproof inks)
What a freaking geek!

I sold art material for almost 20 years, loved every minute of it! Then desktop computers developed the ability to use a million fonts, that was the death knell for “Letraset” and it’s kind. Hand lettering was a different animal but it was commercial art that kept the doors open. The pens and paper were one of my most favorite parts of the job. That and cute art students! Oh, to be young again!
