Oven went kaput yesterday

I have a DACOR range with both true and basic convection. I use the true convection a lot. The oven has a heating element behind the fan. Does a wonderful job that can rival my air fryer. Remember, not everything should be cooked using true convection, but having an oven that does True convection, bottom element with fan convection, and a regular oven makes it all nice.

That being said, my preference is a true convection electric oven but I could easily get along without it.

For small cooks, we use a Cusinart TOA-065 Toaster/air fryer oven. It has the same oven settings as my DACOR.

Its not convection vrs conventional. Its " true convection " vrs " convection " .

Its become a moot point for me, however. I placed an on-line order with a local appliance dealer for a lower priced Frigidaire " convection " only oven. Since they did not have it in stock, they upgraded me for the same price to the " true convection " model, which they sold for $300 more.

But they were well under the Home Depot price of $2,300 + installation ( since these have to be hard wired ) . I probably saved $700 tyo $800 under Home Depot for same oven.

I learned something today, go with local appliance dealers. I'm very happy with my deal with Hahn's Appliances today.
Same for us. We buy whenever we can from our local appliance dealer, which is how we bought the KA oven. The installer was a pro and was in and out in less than 60 minutes including removal of the old unit and connecting to the heavy electrical circuit. You’ll enjoy your new unit. IMO, convection has really helped me turn out great oven proteins.

Our over the range microwave/hood started doing things on its own in February, beeping, turning itself on. We plug it in now when we need to use the thing. We are now used to 1200 watt and ordered a Kitchenaid which was backordered until May. That model keeps pushing back now to the end of July. If ours totally dies, we will have to go down to a lower wattage. I guess we were lucky that when we needed a new freezer and garage fridge in the last 18 months that they actually were in stock. Now it seems almost all appliances are backordered due to supply issues. Only thing in stock seem to be models nobody really wants. Heck, they won't even sell you the floor models!

That's what I ran into. Feel very very lucky to get the deal I got.

I never thought about convection ovens, until we re-did the kitchen a few years ago.
We use the convection feature a lot.

Had to go look at our oven. It's a GE the tag says June 1979. Its a wall unit & was probably put in when they built the house.
Ours is black with a wood grain handle.
Still going strong, we don't use it a lot. But it does what its suppose to do.
Our fridge is early 90's. Works like a dream.
I guess that we are way behind the times. You know what we like it that way.

I replaced my 19 yo fridge 2 years ago and regret it, don't like the new one.

That oven sounds just like mine. Ours was original to when the house was built, 1980. Bet it looks like this

Yep, that is exactly what ours looks like.
The time has been stuck on 10:53 since we moved into the house over 7 years ago.
I hear ya on not wanting to have to change appliances.

I think that we have/had twin ovens.

This is quite a coincidence , the odds someone else on this forum would have the same 42 yo oven are off the charts.

When that oven is put on warm, it will hold at 145*. I tested it with Thermoworks Signals. Really nice for putting a long rest on a brisket. And I read often of people with newer ovens that won't go lower than 170* .

Well if yours went Kaput I guess ours is the only one left standing here in SW Colorado. LOL
And yes it is quite a coincidence. Unless someone else on this site has one.
