One more sacrilegious post


 
I'm still amazed, and frankly, a little baffled, that my brother and I survived childhood :p


Man, you're not a kiddin. The stuff we used to do would probably have the ATF, homeland security and quit a few other departments showing up nowadays. My how things have changed in just 25 years...
 
I get nostalgic for it but I'd never go back. Was never reliable and I've seen plenty of drunken near death experiences!
 
My Dad used to fire up the grill using methylated spirit. Whenever I smell it it takes me back to being a 9 yr old at the beach.

"Hey Dad, this stuff's poisonous."

"Just Gummint propaganda Son."
 
My Dad used to soak briquettes in kerosene in a small bucket for hours, then light the bucket. After the conflagration died down he'd pour them into the Hibachi and incinerate the steaks. That sort of smell sure brings back good memories.

A few years later I was a "Be Prepared" Boy Scout who lit campfires using bug spray and a Zippo!
