Old guys--- Veteran WSM owners chime in -- Is the 22 upgrade worthwhile?

On the top rack I can lay three racks of spare ribs flat, a packer brisket flat, a 23# turkey, etc, etc. I have a 14.5" for the RV due to its portability, but at home I can't see anything less than a 22.5".

Dwain,

Been wanting to take the smoker to the RV but I'm worried about the whole rig smelling like the smoker. Have you had any issues with smoker smell?

Thank you.

I've had an 18" for about 2 years and with some creative arranging, it's usually had enough space for me, but it's been tight. I usually do up a ~20# turkey at Thanksgiving, a smaller turkey and ham at Christmas, and some combination of butts, brisket, ribs or chicken for Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day, always enough to feed 30-ish people.

I'm hoping to get a 22" this Summer to make things easier, especially around the holidays. I've also thought about just getting another 18", which would really be more practical in some ways, but storage is limited and when we have those big get togethers, tending one smoker is enough given all the other things that need to get done.

No. I store it in the shower while traveling and have had no problems.
