Old Bench Vise

Been trying to pick up a bench Vise for a while for an experimental project. Deals keep falling through but I'm going to pick one up tonight. After reading and researching for quite a while I also think I want to do a high level restoration on my old Vise. Besides my experimental project and restoration project I think it will come in handy for grill restorations. If it goes good I may pick up some more for restoration projects.

Josh,
I too went down the Vintage Vise path several years ago.
I purchased a 1970s Starrett 324 1/2 and restored it to like new. I ended up selling it for double what I paid for it as Starrett's/Athol Vises are in high demand.
Vises are an easy sell around New England as everyone wants Vintage. If I do it again I am going to purchase a Reed Vise and go full out on it.
Check out Garage Journal website as those guys know their stuff and there are plenty of pictures of their restores.

Thank you Jeff I appreciate the information. Been doing a ton of research lately on vintage American made vices. I'll definitely check this out thank you!

For what it's worth, when I started at my current job, the guy I took over for didn't have a vise in this shop area. So I went and picked up a Masterforce Vise from Menards. I didn't buy the top of the line one, but went middle of the road, trying to be cost conscious. It is a total turd of a vise. Being at a school district, buying something used is nearly impossible, so I am coping with it.
