If you are buying this lumber to build something and want to use the left over scraps it would work fine. It might be a bit dry though so could cook a bit hot and fast on you. Lots of places here in the Twin Cities sell oak smoke would though for a lot cheaper.
Besides the cost, do you really want Oak? I much prefer hickory and fruit woods (apple, cherry . . .). If you're looking for something on that end of the spectrum, you might want to try pecan.
