New WSM owner.

Hi all, my name is Frank form NJ. I just picked up a new 18.5" WSM the other night, and came across this site. I'm not totally new to smoking. I built a stickburner last winter, kind of a Bandera clone. I do like the results I get out of it, but tending to it constantly is kind of a pain, so I picked up the WSM. I've got a load of chicken thighs on it right now.

I had a Bandera at one time, but hated the almost constant tending to also.
You will love the WSM.

I ain't ever had a Bandera but I did once eet at Bandera's in Chicago...

Thanks guys, had my first cook on the new WSM after I posted this thread. I just did the basic barbecued chicken from TVWB. Came out ok, I think I might have over smoked it a bit. I used two small chunks of applewood, and one chunk of hickory. It was still edible, but i'll try it with a bit less smoke wood next time.
 
Welcome to the group Frank. Try one hunk of Apple with the chicken, it doesn't take much smoke to overpower chicken. So you inviting Bruce over anytime soon for bbq?
 
Welcome aboard. The WSM is definitely easier to keep an eye on. I do it by sitting in my easy chair watching the game or race. ;)
