New Style Water Bowl

Hi Guys,

I just ordered a replacement water bowl for my DA 2002 18.5" WSMS and it looks like the bottom of a Weber kettle. Does this bowl work with my old smoker ? I would just try it but I'm away from home for a while.

That is the "new" style water bowl that comes with the newer 18.5" WSM's. Personally, mine is in the garage on a shelf. I use a clay wrapped saucer wrapped in aluminum foil as a heat sink/diffuser. Easier cleanup and same (if not better) great tasting food.

But to answer your question, it should work!

Thank you very much for getting back to me. I received a new hardware pack from Weber UK yesterday so will be able to put the rails in and try it all. Good suggestion with the terracotta pot. Weber also gave me silicone flange in the hardware kit so might drill a hole and fit it.

You could grind a notch out on the lip of the centre section to run your therm wires. A lot easier, & less drilling required.
 
Pretty easy to drill the hole for the flange, took me less than 30 seconds with a 1 1/4" hole saw.
 
I have the new style water bowl in my 14.5". I'm not a fan. It doesn't allow you to overfill the charcoal basket. I never use water so I will be ditching the pan and either use nothing or the terracotta planter tray wrapped in foil.
