New product from ThermoPro - TP910

Here's a pretty cool looking long range Blue Tooth 2-probe monitor that adds some artificial intelligence to give you updated estimates of time remaining based on your target temperatures. Looks like a clean display and interface. The opening price seems like a really good deal for basic temperature monitor. I think it again shows that ThermoPro wants to be taken seriously rather than being a fly by night purveyor of knock-off products.

That does look like a great product that would directly compete with the Thermoworks Smoke and the Maverick. And at less than half the price.

It does look interesting but your using your phone as the receiver if thats okay with you its fine. The Smoke and Maverick have receivers so its personal choice but its kind of funny the Smoke kind of takes a swipe at using your phone.

"Smoke has two probe channels - one for the meat and one for your pit temps - a dedicated receiver so you can track your temps remotely without gumming up your phone"

I would personally rather use my phone. I do think the Smoke Signals unit uses a phone for display. I find the Smoke remote a bit clunky and it is just one more thing you have to drag around with you while doing a BBQ. Don't get me wrong, I do like my Smoke but I would probably use a phone remote interface if it was possible with the Smoke.

I would have no issue using the phone either but I have a Maverick ET-732 I like the receiver and to be honest can't seem to kill the thing its over 11 years old and still runs as good as the day I bought it. It was not cheap at the time but surely I have gotten my money out of it thats for sure.

The other thing to remember is if your using the app on your phone its going to eat battery time alot since its constantly updating the temp or other readings. Just something to keep in mind if you have the receiver no issues.

Something else to consider is that you can use one of those older cell phones sitting in your desk drawer. They don't need cell service to connect to the Temp unit. They just need blue tooth capability.

With so many people today, their phone is their first line of defense for everything. I think ThermoPro is smart to offer a sharp and somewhat innovative product for a low price by forgoing the receiver. I have a Smoke and like it very much. Definitely made well. Still, this ThermoPro looks like it would do very well - even offering some extra help if you want that - for a great price and from a company that DOES seem to support its products. If I was starting over, I think I would be fine with not having a receiver or worry about my phone being gummed up. It already is!

The only problem there is I don't have any old cell phones sitting in a drawer. :)

Jon the price is great just have to see if the reviews come in since its so new if the Maverick ever bites the dust certainly would consider it but I am a Thermoworks guy so the Smoke would be at the top of my list and I don't mind spending the extra money if it gives me what the Maverick has given me for the amount of years I have gotten out of it.

Yes, that is the one.

I totally get it about FB. I have an account only because my wife got tired of bbq and grill stuff showing up on her page because I used her Marketplace to surf for used grills. I have NO friends and post nothing on my page. I am a member of some grill groups and do occasionally post there.

I primarily use MktPl to buy and sell. That’s not because I like it but because they have steamrolled away their competition and are the main show in town now. I especially dislike the numerous obviously fraudulent ads and the lack of specificity that the search function on MktPl has.

I mirror your thoughts on FB MP Jon. And I use mine just like you do. I don't really use the social media part of it. I don't even use my real name on it.

These things just keep getting smarter and smarter. The use of the smartphone as the primary display is the same strategy as Weber Connect, and the "Algorithmic Estimated Cook Time Left" is the same feature found in Weber Connect and the Meater wireless probe therm...but at a much lower price.
