New kettle coming?

Interesting. They took the performer (not deluxe) with the smaller cart and no ignition and added a temp controller. Probably in response to the Spider Huntsman. I always thought the cart on this one was too small to justify the price tag.

I think the premium version will have the full size cart and maybe an igniter

So no gas assist on the premium performer, which is fine when using a fire starter and a fan to stoke.

Not sure about the solid metal bottom. I would prefer wire or mesh.

Otherwise, I give a solid to Weber. Nice to see them adapt to ever-changing surroundings.

Would you be willing to fork over an additional $100 to $200 to cover the material costs for something like that?
I for sure would. I realize there are plenty of buyers who might not care enough to pay more, but I think adding that option would be a great way for Weber to stand out in quality in the eyes of many serious users of grills. If done right, I think it would sell very well. One of the biggest complaints people have about their grills is rusting cabinetry. This could address that head on.

So, unfortunately, this retailer is spilling the beans early on something I'm not really at liberty to talk about yet.
Fair enough John, i can appreciate the keeping quiet about an upcoming new release!
I really would like to see an improvement in the handle on the catcher but, have not come up with anything that wouldn’t be ridiculous to implement or how to make it more comfortable for “older” hands.

I think the one touch receiver design could be improved-SNS design is much easier to remove. Like Jon, I'm a big proponent of ss. Retailer spilling the beans means somethings in the works I would think though.

Interesting to see Weber respond to the Spider Grills and Billows add ons.
Looking forward to seeing this in action.

I would like to see Weber address the thermometer placement on the lid..... I've got a 2nd gen Performer with the 'lollipop' thermometer IN the handle right at the Top of the dome - actually pointed at the vent - makes perfect sense to have it there. The way the current placement is with the thermometer 180 opposite of the vent seems like it just reads the temp right over the coals by the way I do indirect grilling/smoking. I should say that I have never cooked on one like that - but that would be expectation. I would think that a thermometer placement closer to the vent would be more ideal.

Lots to like about the new design...
...everything except what has already been mentioned...to much cheap, flimsy, sheet
metal that be rusting quickly for those that
live in rust prone areas. I am curious about the
warranty details on the frame. I would guess it
to be 2 years.
