New grill recommendation

I’m moving and will be downsizing my grill. I have a Genesis s310 I bought 10 to 15 years ago. I’ll probably give it to my son in law. I’m moving to a condo and will only have a small deck, plus, it’s just me and my wife so I’m thinking about a smaller grill. Looking for recommendations for a model of grill that would work. Main grilling is chicken and burgers. I’m not sure about what I’m going to do with my smoker. I doubt they will let me use charcoal and frankly, I don’t think I’d want to take that risk no matter how small it might be. I’ll post another thread on that. This is about having a nice but small gasser.

Take a look at the new 3 burner Spirit. Nice grill for under $500. Lot nicer then the last small Spirit offering.

If you're going to be in an HOA situation, be wary of them not wanting gas or other fuel burning appliances. If so, I can't recommend the Ninja Woodfire Pro XL enough.

I’ll make sure I see it in writing, but I did see some gassers on the decks in this complex.

The small sprit's look pretty nice, but they aren't much smaller than an E310

Another option to consider is a Weber Q grills. I've never cooked on one, but several have spoken favorably about them.

I second the Q grill. Small, and hot. The downside of it is that even the largest Q is kind of too small for indirect grilling, or low n slow stuff. But for anything direct, its a good one.

Third the Q. I have a 2200, perfect for the two of us for chops , burgers, sausage etc.

Yeah the Q is an ideal grill (I'd go for the new 2800N if you can use gas) if no gas allowed, grab a Ninja.

I could look further, but I’d be hesitant to go with the Q. I think I’d feel more comfortable with something like a small Spirit. Though, for burgers and chicken, I guess either would work.

Jerry, I have downsized, too and prefer a smaller footprint. I have a Q1200 and have found it more than fits the bill for our needs. I also have a 2002 Genesis Silver A 2 burner which I absolutely love and will never part with. If you want added flexibility size wise, perhaps the new Spirit 2 burner would work for you? I have always been an advocate of 2 burners due to their smaller footprint and find they more than fit the bill.

I use my Q exclusively for burners and chicken, more than enough real estate for 2. If I need more I have the A-however, a ribeye is going on my Bullseye tonight! For 1 grill for your needs, Spirit 2 burner gets my vote. Everyone has different needs.

I received and reviewed the condo documents. Oddly, they don’t restrict using charcoal. Given that the only practical place to grill is the deck, I’m a bit concerned. I’m a pretty save griller and I wouldn’t want to grill with charcoal on a wood deck. Worse, I especially don’t like the idea of Mr. clueless using charcoal. The only restriction they have is that you’re to remain with your grill. Have fun enforcing that. And, that kind of eliminates smoking. Guess I’ll have to do that at my daughter’s house. Glad I have a good son in law. I’ll get it going and he can watch over the cook.

Yeah, this.

We don’t allow any grilling or smoking, of any fuel types for condo or apartment buildings (insurance company).

Statistics show they’re the leading cause of large loss fires at these types of buildings.

Check with your HOA before buying anything for yourself to ensure you can own something for use on your deck.
