Hmm, after I flash the blank image then remove/reinsert the MicroSD card still shows all the files, not seeing the raw drive. I guess this card is toast after all... Still locked down with some sort of write protect that I can't seem to eliminate, or just plain broken I guess. At least it only cost me $5 bucks...

Other than in phones this is the first I've messed around with MICROSD cards, and so far I've had problems with BOTH cards. The 8G card wouldn't work at first, but the latest disk imager got it working, the 4G card worked easily from the beginning, then failed a week or so later with the write protect problem. I never had a single problem with a full size SD card, guess that is one more reason I love the rPi B over the B+ (or A+)

Yeah Ralph that card is toast. The img file I posted is just 512 bytes of zeroes, which wipes out the partition table that lives in the first block of the SD card, effectively converting it into one giant empty device. I don't think writes are working at all, maybe internally the "write enable" trace is damaged or something, but it seems unsalvageable.

Yah, toast I guess. Funny thing is I CAN delete the FILES, and add stuff, I guess there is an issue writing in that first block or something... but thanks for posting that blank image and describing what it does, I'm sure it will come in handy in the future...
