Got a new toy this week. Just had to have it, Here is all the working for it. coal bucket, grill which is the same size as the 18.5 Weber Mountain smoker, 2 rubs beef and all purpose. And a stand for the UDS. One vent at the bottom set to your elevation is the only control. Set it and forget it. I'm gonna love this thing.
So tonight we fixed a chicken in it, Using their all purpose rub.
A hour and half later here is the finished product.
Here is the final product plated up, the meat was very juicy and tasty. Fell right off the bones. The Pit Barrel Cooker rocks.
Here it is as it comes in the box. I'm a Weber guy through & through. But this cooker/smoker is very simple. Produces great food. Also it is made in Strasburg Colorado. It's rated gold by Meathead from the Amazing rib site. I agree
Thanks for looking

Well that some thing I haven't seen before. Looks awesome, looking forward to seeing more cooks out of that bad boy. So do you just hang every thing from the rebar or is there cooking grates as well?

Russ that's a good looking cooker...chicken looks great!! So what kind of temp were ya getting out of it? Looks real interesting!! Looking forward to seeing some more cooks with it!

Excellent looking chicken Russ! On one of the other sites I belong to lots of people swear
by them. PM me if you want the info on that site. PBC is one of the many sponsors on that board.

Yea, Six it has one grate that sits down inside that way you can hang a brisket for 3-4 hrs wrap & foil and finish out on the grate.

Didn't check the temp Morgan during the first cook. It suppose to cook 250-275 range on its own when it warms up & settles in. You just set it and forget it.

I had one for awhile. they are power cookers. basically one temp about 325° or so. you can adjust the temp down my adjusting the bottom vent. can cook a lot of food in them. 8 racks of ribs or chicken 1/2's. that's pretty good.

Drum cooking is cool because the meat is directly over the coals but at a far enough distance to be considered indirect cooking. I have been using my Big Drum Smoker for several years and love the flavor it produces when the melting fat drips into the fire and vaporizes.
