Need a little help with this red weber

I just picked up my first red weber. How old is this weber?



I'm working right so I'm driving around with this kettle. This are the only pics I have.

It has a few Beauty marks but it's fine with me.

Will post more whrn I get home and set it up.




It's in pretty good condition. All vents open with ease.

I will need help getting some "clips " that hold the ash pan.

The lady that sold said she is an Estate Liquidator. She had another performer but I already have one.

Very Nice! Plastic wheels with rubber tread will push it closer to a '70 -'71. Metal wheels with rubber tread will push it closer to '68 -'69

I put the pan on with no clips. Not sure if the residue is holding it up or does it really need clips

Tony - I replied to your cooking post, but now I see this beauty here. That ash pan is the "twist pan" and no clips required. This is how it was designed.
That bowl is in awesome condition! I have a similar grill, but mine is ~6 years newer and not in as good of condition.
The legs & pan will polish up nicely with a little elbow grease. I have a bunch of sandpaper by trade, so I didn't have to purchase anything.
Nothing fancy, just various grits of sandpaper, & steel wool. Left leg in original condition and the other 2 are cleaned up.

Legs & pan are polished, but the triangle was beyond me. It was heavily rusted and I got it clean, but not shiny.
This --- is 'chrome rattle can' paint. Actually didn't turn out too shabby. lol

On the patio and the 18"er still needs his clean-up and proper assembly

Notice the ash pan on the left 22" (like yours) has a straight edge on it while the newer red in the middle has the rolled edge on it.

Thanks Chad. I put the pan on and I figured it held on with all the residue it had. I have access to sandpaper.

I did a small area.... Started with 400 grit then 800 then did 0000 steel wool.

Is this something you recommend?

Basically, yes. Only I started with a much coarser grit of sandpaper to cut through the crud & oxidation.
Something like 100, 150, 220, 320, 400, 0000 steel wool. (because this is everything I had on hand)

I finished up with some aluminum polish but honestly - didn't notice much of a difference than just a straight 0000 steel wool finish.
