This is my first try at Pizza on the Kettle. Turned out good because of info from the site, it could use fine tuning especially at getting the heat higher,but THANK YOU ALL. I also decided because of information from this site and other sources that I would stick to the kettle for the stone, I think the gasser is to hot and while it might not crack the stone every time you use it, you definitely increase the the likelihood of it happening.

Here is the start, homemade crust

Not as hot as I was looking for but base on other information I cracked the hood 1/2 inch and it raised up

GGross;
I cook at a higher temperature. I put one chimney of lit and spread it evenly over the bottom if I am just going to bake one or two pizzas. If I am doing more, I put a chimney of UNLIT in the bottom (spread evenly) then another chimney of LIT evenly over the unlit. I use two thin fire bricks to elevate my food grate. The thin bricks don't absorb as much heat (at least, that's MY theory). Even at night, I can check on the pizza's progress by viewing through the vent holes with a flashlight. It doesn't take long - six to eight minutes.

I don't know how long we can get away with using a pizza stone on a charcoal grill without it breaking. I have done a number of cooks with mine and no problems. However, if it ever breaks I will replace with a Lodge Cast Iron pizza pan. That will work at any temperature we are likely to encounter.

Just a thought or two...

Keep on smokin',

Wow looks amazing! Never considered grilling a pizza... now I have to try it. Maybe pre-grill some vegetables to throw on to the pizza? Mmm, delicious nonetheless.
