My Camping Weekend

John Solak

TVWBB 1-Star Olympian
We made one more trip to the desert this season before it gets too hot out there.
Friday nights dinner. Tri tip seasoned with Tatonka dust, corn and some beer bread with some shredded cheese added for good measure. Also poured some melted butter over the bread before it went on the grill

Everything done and resting

My plate

Saturday my Wife and I took a quad ride to Salvation Mountain and Slab City
A quick pic of Salvation Mountain.

We rode our quads around Slab City. Very different place. A lot of free spirits and talk about living off of the grid!!! To each their own I guess.
Some art on the side of the road

Saturday nights dinner was suppose to be chicken seasoned with Webers Kickin Chicken and lemon pepper, potatoes and another salad. I put the chicken on the grill and started talking to the campers next door with a rum and coke in my hand. I quickly lost interest at the grill and basically drank my dinner and had some chicken as a snack. Here is as far as I got logging Saturdays dinner.

Really fun but hot weekend, I hope yours was just as enjoyable!!!

WOW! John, thanks for sharing. Looks like a fun weekend was had by all. I have to get some Totonka dust, seems like a lot of peeps here have it.

I bet it was getting hot! My wife's family is from Brawley and man it gets smoking hot there!

Great looking camping cooks and pictures!!

amazing how different "camping" can be in different parts of the country (or world).
these parts, you pitch a tent under tall pine trees next to a lake...
hope bears don't come around in the middle of the night looking for food....

Great Photos John! Thanks!! And GREAT Lookin' Food Too!

We're headin "campin" this comin weekend. Gen, AC, sat TV, etc I guess it's still campin. Looks like a lot of fun. The shoe tree reminds me of the one on the road from Reno NV to Herlong CA.

Looks like fun! It was hot out here this past weekend... Now the plan is to head your direction for the next few months!

John if you ever make it into Brawley look up "Ramey's meats" they have killer carne asada and Tri tip all seasoned and ready for the grill! Trust me you will love it!!
