My apologies for not being clear. Do these clamps make a difference in terms of reducing leakage of smoke (aka make a tighter fit)? Just wondering the primary purpose of the clamp mod? Sorry for the dumb question

I just installed the same clamps. If you tighten them down, you can cause them to seal the connection more tightly.

However, I never had any leaks from that area, and I have them just tight enough to keep the two pieces together.
