Meatballs

Our house is being painted and right now I can only use the Genesis. Too hot to run the oven, so the gasser went to work.

My wife makes fantastic meatballs but I wanted to go a bit lighter so I went with turkey. I used to be able to fool my son into thinking they were beef. That doesn't work anymore. These were good and a bit healthier, but nowhere near as good as my wife makes them. She's Italian, I'm Scotch-Irish.

Mixed turkey, a few ounces of sweet Italian sausage, and some diced prosciutto. Some asiago, a panade of milk and bread, an egg, and some parsley. A few spices, too. Brushed the tops with olive oil and cooked at 400° for about 30 minutes.

Threw on some sausage.

They cook quickly. Flipped them halfway through.

Rested for a bit and served with spaghetti and a jarred sauce. I know...I'm lazy. Too hot to make sauce. A little basil and all set.

My son just became a teenager. He eats anything that's not bolted down. He ate a meatball, looked at us and said, "Dad, they're good but they're not even close to mom's." Then he shoved two more meatballs into his maw.

The punk. I'll get over it somehow 🤣

Looks great....I generally use a jarred sauce myself....I find this to be really tangy and outstanding.
The brand I admire itself offers many varieties while I prefer the marinara the most out of all of them.
This is the brand and it has very clean ingredients.....it costs a bit more but it is so flavouful I can't give it up.
Of course I always dress it up with oregano and basil or similar herbs.....
I would recommend it 100%.
The best before on the jar also usually is 2 to 3 years so it has a good shelf life....glass not a tin too.....
I also do not think beef is unhealthy at all........

Yeah, that's good stuff. Hard to get around here. We use Rao's when my wife doesn't wanna make sauce.

I hear you on the beef thing. He's just been eating tons of it lately and I'm trying to get him to branch out. At least this time he knew it was turkey up front.

I was just riding you a tad with the beef......
I still don't think it is unhealthy.....it carries a lot of protien per weight and that is what I go for when trying to eat on a daily basis.
I eat a boat load of eggs....likely close to if not 2 dozen per week......and beef.....and salt......it's a long story but trying to eat 175 grams of protien inside a short window everyday is trickier than you think.

Guess I need to branch out....I add a quality salt to my ground beef....then I turn that into meat balls......then I cook those balls then I eat them....
