Lump with consistently large pieces.

Can anyone recommend lump that has a high volume of larger chunks?.
While I understand that there will be smaller pieces, I have yet to find a brand that has a decent amount of larger pieces. Other than Cowboy, (it's sparking crap), what brand(s) do you suggest.

Fogo Super Premium. According to the Naked Whiz's lump charcoal database entry on FSP, the bag they reviewed had about 39% large, and about 48% medium sized pieces. I've used Fogo's Premium (not their Super Premium) with pretty good results, but that variety has a higher percentage of smaller pieces.

The 15# bag has had excellent sizing for me of late. Walmart has had the best price, $1# and free delivery when you buy 3 or more bags.

Add me as a JD fan. I keep an old hammer with the charcoal to “right size” the bigger pieces.

Yes, a bag of the JD recommended above usually has several large chunks. I take the large chunks out and put them in another "large chunk" bag and use them in my offset. JD is my go-to lump, available at Home Depot.

Here's a breakdown - they say 12% of the bag is large chunks.

I've tried Big Block too, maybe 5-6 years ago. The name implies large chunks, right? And it does seem to have more large chunks than JD. But I think JD has the edge when you consider everything.
