Lets see your turkey fryers.

These are very cool. The idea of frying a turkey terrifies me, but the results look incredible
3 and a half minutes a pound, you could do 4 minutes and be ok.
Enough oil to just cover the bird, roughly 4 gallons, maybe 5.
350 degrees on the oil, nothing to worry about 😁
EDIT=we maintain 400 on the oil.

While the turkey is still in its wrapper put it in the pot and pour just enough water to cover it. Remove the bird and mark the water level with a pencil.
Dump the water and dry the pot and now you know the exact amount of oil to add.

Just came back from Meijer and they had fryer oil displayed in the main aisle.
$60.00 for 3 gallons
Reviving this thread because I wanted to do a truly deep-fried one this year, but oil is now north of $77.00 for the blend and upwards of $119.00 for pure peanut oil and don't even talk about frying in tallow unless you are rich...

That is why I went with a Charbroil Big Easy® Outdoor Turkey Fryer and Air Fryer. The amount I saved in oil over the years I used it paid for itself. As a bonus I got to keep the drippings that I could make into gravy.

So, some of you guys only use your turkey oil one time ?
I bought new last year, so this year will be the second time the oil has been used.
I leave it in it's 10 gallon stainless steel kettle all year in my pole shed covered but not climate controlled.
What is the opinion on doing this

It will go rancid. If you have freezer space you can freeze it and it not spoil, but always filter first.

It cools with Infrared and the turkeys come out great. Nice crispy skin and juicy on the inside. Brining helps. Bonus - new models can do more stuff with included grill grate so you can use it like a gas BBQ.
Really cool! My family is small it's just me and my wife and my daughter and they don't eat much so I don't usually do a turkey but that thing sounds fantastic!
