I made this with some tri-tip steaks, but plan to use it on flank, skirt, and....oh, yeah, Kalbi! 
Korean-Style/Kalbi Marinade:
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 Tbsp sesame oil
1/4 cup sake or rice wine
1/2 white onion, roughly chopped
2 garlic cloves
2 tsp minced ginger
1/2 tsp black pepper
