Kingsford Charcoal $3.33 at Lowes

I rolled by Lowes last night and found Kingsford 20 lb bags on clearance sale for $3.33 a bag. There a couple of pallets available at that price, so you may want to check it out! I am not sure if it is limited to the local store, or if it is a company-wide sale/clearance.

Lowes: $3.33/20 lb = 16.65 cents/lb
Home Depot: $7.98/2x24 lb = 16.63 cents/lb

That's a little uncanny.

Maybe Lowes and Home Depot will get caught up in a "charcoal war" ... sort of like gas wars between competing gas stations.
 
I just stopped in home depot for the 7.98 twin packs, and an employee there said the sale is almost over. Anyone know if this is true?
 
My home depot doesnt have 2 24 pound packs, they have 2 20 pound packs. It works out to 20 cents a pound, Sams always has it for 22 cents a pound so I havent stocked up. Lowes sounds like a good deal but I have to drive 20 miles to get to it. A charcoal war would be ideal, I am down to 3 24 pound bags so I am getting nervous.
 
We picked up four twenty-pound bags at Lowe's last night at the $3.33 price to augment our supply. With the WSM, our charcoal consumption has really increased.
 
I went to HD last weekend to get some Kinsford and they were out. I had to get some at BJ's for 11.98/48 #'s. I was told the HD sale ended Wednesday?

HD had a sale over the Memorial Day weekend, as well. I would guess that they might have a similar sale over Labor Day. Something to keep an eye out for if you're running low ... might be the last sale of the "season".
 
The local HD here still has the twin bags of 20# on sale for the $7.98 price. Picked up two 2 packs. As Scott said, having the WSM really increases the charcoal use! Having only one bag on hand now makes me nervous.
