Kettle memorabilia

My son saw these on a weber group. Really like the retro, old tech style. I would be great if Weber could be persuaded to produce vintage merch? Happy grilling this Easter weekend, everyone

Cool.
When did "Charky" changed his name to "Topper"?
The catalogue on the right with "Charky" I think is from 1957.
"Topper" is on the front of the 1959-60 catalogue.
Who is on the cover of the 1958 catalogue?
I saw someone with a "Topper" t-shirt at Grillstock one year.

Name changed after the Don Rickles navy themed sit com was released” CPO Sharkey”. Rickles called a hockey puck and said “top that” and “Topper” was named.

The above is based on absolutely nothing and any resemblance of that story alive or dead is simply ridiculous.

Those were listed in an ad for a mint 1950s grill offered for sale in Ohio.
I wondered about the Charky, I had never seen that before.

Timothy, does "the above" refer to your statement, or to a previous post?
I can't tell if you're making a joke. :)

This is the first I've ever heard that Topper had a different name. I'm reaching out to one of the Stephen family members that still works at Weber to see if they can shed any light on this mystery.

"Charky", (charcoal?), & "Topper" might be twins? They look exactly the same!

Maybe "Charky" was really a closet "gasser" & moved over to the dark-side with Weber's competitor LazyMan, [formerly Chicago Combustion Company]. Then "Topper", a vehement briq-head, got the gig?

"This could be a three-pipe problem Watson."

They have a couple, in fact 25% off, better move fast.

Thanks Chris. I will take a look at these.

When did Weber start selling down under?
Charky seems like a Aussie name.
I believe we got into the Aussie market in the 1970s, and I think Topper/Charky was retired by then, but I agree that Charky does sound like it could be an Aussie name!

In Denmark, there is a different mascot in connection with their official online forums (Klubben = Club) from Weber Nordic. There is a museum of Weber history, which includes milestones in the Scandinavian Market, in Aalborg, Denmark where the mascot appears on the timeline .
